# The application data sheet: what to send us, and why we ask

Every good recommendation starts with the same questions. The data sheet asks them once, in the right order.

 Quick answer

The application data sheet collects the pre-order design inputs an engineer needs: the measurement points and gases, ranges, sample pressure, temperature and dew point, dust and corrosives, area classification, utilities, outputs and calibration approach. Fill in what you know and leave the rest; we ask for the missing items. Your draft saves in your browser as you go, and you can print or send it when ready.

**After this lesson you can**

- Know what the data sheet asks and why each item matters
- Fill it in with partial information
- Understand how it is used

## What it asks, and why

| Group | Why we ask |
|---|---|
| Company and contact | To reply and to know who will use the instrument |
| Application and purpose | Control, protection or certification changes the design: |
| Measurement points and gases | To choose the analyser and range for each stream |
| Composition and background | To check interferences and the binary assumption for thermal conductivity: |
| Sample conditions | Pressure, temperature, dew point, dust, tar: they decide the sample system: |
| Area and site | Classification and ambient limits decide the enclosure: |
| Utilities, outputs and calibration | To complete the installation: |

It handles up to four measurement streams in one sheet.

## Send what you have

You do not need every answer. A partial sheet with gas, range and process is already enough to start. We ask for the rest, and often the answers to our questions help you decide too. Mark unknowns as unknown rather than guessing.

## How it works

- Fill it in online; your draft saves in your browser so you can return later.
- A completeness indicator and checks against the catalogue limits warn you early.
- Print it, or send it to us with attachments; you receive a reference number.
- We reply with questions or a recommendation.

Drafts stay on your device until you press Send. See the privacy page for what is stored.

## What happens next

1. An applications engineer reviews it.
2. We check the sample against the analyser's limits: [What samples an analyser cannot take: know the limits](https://www.sarveshanalytics.com/learn/what-samples-an-analyser-cannot-take.html).
3. We propose an analyser and sample system, or say what we cannot do.
4. We discuss the sample, calibration and support before you order.

## Start now

Open the sheet: [application-data-sheet](https://www.sarveshanalytics.com/application-data-sheet.html). Or use the analyser selector for a quick indication first: [analyser-selector](https://www.sarveshanalytics.com/analyser-selector.html).

**In short**

- The data sheet collects the design inputs an engineer needs.
- Send what you have and leave the rest.
- Drafts save in your browser until you send.
- An engineer reviews it and replies with questions or a recommendation.

## Check your understanding

Answer in your head or on paper first, then open the answer. Recalling an answer teaches more than rereading.

**Why does the data sheet ask for background gases?**

To check interferences and the assumptions of the measurement principle.

**Do I need to fill in every field?**

No. Send what you have and we ask for the rest.

**Where is your draft stored before you send it?**

In your own browser only.

## Frequently asked questions

**What is the application data sheet?**

An online form for the pre-order design inputs we need to recommend an analyser.

**Is it free?**

Yes.

**Can I attach files?**

Yes, up to a total size noted on the form.

**How soon will I hear back?**

An applications engineer will reply by email or phone; for urgent cases call sales on +91 94 2300 4179.
