Filter housings for gas sampling and instrument lines

The body that holds the element in the line. Choose the material for the gas, the port size for the pipework and the pressure and temperature rating for the duty; the element goes inside and is changed without disturbing the piping.

How to choose

  • Material. Stainless steel 316 for process gas, high pressure and most analyser sample lines; aluminium for compressed air and general gas; plastic and PTFE where the sample is corrosive and the pressure is low; brass for utility service.
  • Port size. Match the sample line: 1/8 and 1/4 inch NPT for analyser sample systems, 1/2 inch and larger for higher flows. Several models are also offered with BSPP threads.
  • Rating. Each model lists its maximum temperature and pressure together. Check both against the worst case at the filter, not the normal operating point.
  • Drain. Coalescing duty collects liquid in the bowl. Pick a manual or automatic drain where liquid is expected, or a plug where the gas is dry.

Each housing takes a Headline element of a given diameter and length. Tell us the housing model and we will send the matching element in the grade you need.

Can a housing be used for hot gas?

Yes. Heatable stainless steel housings are made for hot gas analysis, for example diesel exhaust at 200 °C, and can be heated by an external heater.
